成人小视频appI am excited and honored to serve as McClure Elementary School’s principal for the 2020-21 school year. For the past year, I have served the McClure Elementary School community as the assistant principal.

My professional journey in education began in the San Jose Unified School District in California as a fifth-grade teacher 19 years ago. I have had the privilege of serving as an elementary teacher, an English Language Arts teacher at the high school level, an instructional facilitator, Guided Language Acquisition Design (GLAD) tier III trainer, and assistant principal.

成人小视频appI have a Bachelor’s degree in K-8 Elementary Education, endorsements in K-12 reading and grades 4-12 English Language Arts, plus a Master’s degree in K-12 literacy. I take pride in being a National Board Certified Teacher, a rigorous process that I completed in 2012.

成人小视频appI have a passion for literacy, for helping others achieve their maximum potential and for doing what is right for kids by equipping educators with the tools and resources needed to be successful. I value collaborating with parents, their child’s first teacher.

成人小视频appI believe that it is paramount that we provide equity and access for all students, especially the diverse needs of our sizeable English Language Learner (ELL) population. I also believe in supporting and implementing social-emotional learning, engaging in ongoing data analysis, implementing best practices, and adjusting teaching practices to elevate student achievement. I know that students learn best when they are actively involved and that positive relationships and high expectations are essential for all.

成人小视频appI was born and raised in the Yakima Valley, attended Yakima public schools, and graduated from Eisenhower High School. My husband and I have a blended family of seven children. One of my greatest joys is instilling a love for lifelong learning in each one of them. I also love working outdoors, camping, reading, and am an advocate for homeless pets in our valley.

I look forward to continuing to serve the McClure school community, a school with a dedicated and compassionate staff, families who desire only the best for their children, and students with a lot of Mustang pride!

McClure Elementary had a surprise visitor during food distribution on May 13, 2020. Families were thrilled to see T-Rex greeting cars as they pulled in to pick up food. Even our community partners (YPD) enjoyed their time with T-Rex!

  • The Yakima School District is proud to announce the hiring of Stephanie A. Casillas as assistant principal of McClure Elementary School beginning July 1, 2020.

Posted by Lisa Wallace on 5/3/2020

成人小视频appThis upcoming school year marks Stephanie’s 16th year in education and it is with great pleasure that she is returning to the Yakima School District. Her career started in the Sunnyside School District as a Kindergarten teacher and after teaching there for two years she had the pleasure of coming to the Yakima School District where she was born and raised. She taught various grade levels throughout the school district, served as an instructional facilitator and as an assessment specialist. Stephanie and her family then moved to Longview, Washington where she served as an elementary principal for the past seven years.

成人小视频appStephanie has received her Bachelor’s in Teaching Degree from Heritage College, a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from Grand Canyon University, and a Master’s in Business Administration from Western Governors.

成人小视频appShe and her husband, who is also in education, have two amazing children who are both in college and spent their elementary and middle school years in Yakima. They are all extremely excited to return to Yakima where they can spend more time with family, contribute to our community and the students in the Yakima School District.

  • Drive-In Graduation Events Canceled (5/26/20)

May 26, 2020, Yakima, WA - At this time, the Yakima School District regrets that we have canceled drive-in graduation events for Eisenhower, Davis, and Stanton.  In recent communications with the Yakima Health District and guidelines set forth by the governor, we have determined that any celebration, other than virtual, is highly unlikely. The District, in conjunction with high school leadership at Eisenhower, Davis, Stanton and Yakima Online, will not facilitate or support a drive-in or virtual watch party, due to the growing concern of the number of infections in Yakima County and our lingering Phase 1 reopening status.

成人小视频appWhile the district is still hopeful that a June 13 procession down Yakima Avenue to honor our graduates could happen, there are growing doubts, due to the status of Yakima County as a COVID-19 hotspot. This processional is something that we know our graduating seniors deserve but it may not be possible. We hope to provide updated information on the possibility of the June 13 processional on June 1.

  • June 17 is the last day of school for YSD students

成人小视频appAccording to guidance from OSPI, unless districts can show that student learning was NOT impacted by the emergency closures (either loss of instructional days, loss of instructional hours per day, or both) districts are required to add five (5) days at the end of the school year. For the Yakima School District, that means June 17th will be the final day of distance learning for the 2019-20 school year. Support will be available to students via distance learning through June 17.

  • Be Counted! 2020 Census

Census 2020 The census is a way for our community to seek the necessary financial support from the government that it needs.  Our schools depend on the census count for accurate program funding. In mid-March, you will receive an invitation to participate in the census from the Census Bureau. Be sure to count everyone in your household - even infants.  Responding to the census is the law, however, it is against the law for the Census Bureau to inquire about personal information such as immigration status.  It is illegal for the Census Bureau to pass on your contact information to other government entities. They use your contact info, such as your name and address, to know if you have already been counted. Once you have responded, you will no longer receive notices from the Census Bureau and a census worker will not come to your home.  If you have any questions, we have put together videos and information for you online at qdhaoyi.cn/2020census
